Doonside's Pet Policy

Pets are very welcome at Doonside. The house is perfect for dogs, with its large garden and proximity to several dog-friendly beaches, including Doonfoot, Dunure and Maidens.

Other pets are welcome too, however if you have a particularly unusual or exotic pet, please email us in the first instance.

Please observe the following conditions if you wish to bring a pet to Doonside.

1. Provide details of your pet at the time of making your booking. Please consider whether your pet is suitable to bring to Doonside i.e. it will not cause damage or behave aggressively.

2. A maximum of three pets can be accommodated at Doonside at any one time.

3. We require a £100 damage and cleaning deposit from any guest who brings a pet with them. This is in addition to the good housekeeping deposit. The easiest way to pay this is by cheque; we will not cash the cheque and we will simply destroy it at the end of your stay, provided your pet has not caused any mess or damage. Damage will be charged at the rate of £25 per hour and deducted from your deposit (for example steam cleaning linen to remove traces of pets).

4. Please bring all the supplies you need to look after your pet during your stay. Bring your dog's own bed, blanket, towels and toys. Please remember poop scoop bags, your dog's lead, collar and any other essentials, such as medication.

5. Please do not wash your dog inside the house (in the bath or elsewhere!) or use our towels to dry your dogs.

6. It is a good idea to bring a small supply of dog food with you, but there is a Spar shop a short distance from the house that is open daily from 7am to 10pm and sells a small selection of dog food.

7. Clean up all dog mess as soon as it happens, whether this is in the garden, on the beach or in the surrounding area. Remember that lots of young children live nearby and spend time on the beach and in the woodland. Please be vigilant at all times. Carry popper scoopers, bags etc with you at all times.

8. Never leave your dog unattended in the house.

9. Use common sense when it comes to letting pets onto the couches and/or beds.

10. Please leave the house free from all traces of pets before you leave. This includes removing all dog hair from the property, vacuuming throughout, cleaning all traces of wet dog from the floor and/or walls, and cleaning up dog mess in the garden as and when it happens. We do not charge any additional fees for your pets, so we expect you to keep a close eye on them and respect our house and garden.

11. Please make all members of your party aware of these conditions.
